With Five Forums, 193 Conferences and Promotion and Negotiation Activities Ready, The CIFTIS will Lead the Development Trend of Global Trade in Services

China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services 2021 (The CIFTIS) will be held in Beijing from September 2 to 7. During the Fair, 5 summits, 193 forums, promotion and negotiation activities and 8 side events will be held. Keeping up closely with the development of the times, the theme of each forum will focus on hot topics in the industry and lead the development trend of the trade in services.


Organizers with High Level

The Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Development Research Center of the State Council and World Tourism Cities Federation will hold five summit forums. Seven international organizations, including the World Intellectual Property Organization, the United Nations World Food Programme, the International Banking Federation, the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, the World Trade Point Federation and the World Trade Center Association will hold forums on topics such as intellectual property protection, food supply chain, financial technology, ecological protection, sustainable development, distribution services, medical care, health and so on. The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, together with the Chinese people’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the P.R.C, the International Commercial Dispute for Prevention and Settlement Organization and so on will hold forums on the development of traditional Chinese medicine, quality certification, cross-border legal services, etc.

In addition, the embassies of Ireland, France and the United Arab Emirates in China and more than 40 overseas institutions in China including the Germany Trade and Invest and the Philippine Department of Tourism will hold thematic activities; Nearly 20 national associations and institutions such as China Council for International Investment Promotion, the China Association for Promoting UN Procurement, China Association of Enterprises with Foreign investment and China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Development Association will also hold forums and conferences.

Guests with Prominent Influence

186 distinguished guests at home and abroad will attend the conferences or forums online or offline, including one current political dignitary, 6 former political dignitaries such as the former Prime Minister of France and the former Prime Minister of Hungary, 20 heads of international organizations like the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization and the Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization, 14 foreign ministerial officials including the Minister of the Ministry of Tourism of The Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, 25 Nobel Prize winners , Chinese and foreign academicians, 30 ambassadors to China and 90 senior executives of Fortune 500 companies and multinational companies like Daimler AG, Sanofi S.A. , Cisco Systems, Inc., LafargeHolcim, Alibaba Group, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, Standard & Poor’s, Deloitte, etc.

Representatives from more than 10 international organizations including the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Office for South South Cooperation, the United Nations Environment Programme and The United Nations Human Settlements Programme will also attend the Fair.

Focusing on Cutting-edge Trends

The five summit forums will have exchanges and discussions on business opportunities created by digital education, high-quality development of trade in services, opening-up and cooperation, new digital ecology and revitalization of world tourism, and there will be in-depth discussions on the strategic and structural issues of global trade in services. Keeping up closely with the theme of the Fair, 15 forums on digital economy and digital trade planning will be held including “Global Procurement and Sustainable Development of Digital Economy Forum”. Highlighting green and low-carbon ideas, 15 activities on carbon neutrality and hitting peak carbon emissions will be held, including “Sustainable Development of Global Ecology Summit ”and “Carbon Neutrality and Economic Development Forum ”. Focusing on financial services, cultural and tourism services, sports services and other topics, activities of government-enterprise docking and industry-university docking will be widely carried out to promote the integration and exchange of innovation theories and advanced technologies in service trade.

Release of Fruitful Achievements

1. Authoritative reports and indexes to lead the development of the industry will be released. More than 30 reports, standards and indexes will be released, including Report on China’s Development of Trade in Services 2020, Theory, Policy and Practice of International Consumption Center Cities, Report on the Development of World Tourism Cities and White Paper on China’s Internet Industry Economy.

2. A number of alliances and platforms to promote sustainable development will be established. More than 10 alliances, think tanks and platforms will be established in logistics procurement, food supply chain, finance, traditional Chinese medicine, ecological environment, such as International Public Procurement Alliance, Food Supply Chain Alliance, Global Financial Supervision Alliance, International Education Alliance of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ecologically Sustainable Development Alliance to promote the formation of a long-term mechanism to enhance the development of the industry.

3. New technologies, applications and achievements will be popularized. More than 70 enterprises including Alibaba Group, Tencent Holdings Ltd, Pfizer, Philips, Accenture, Sanofi, Canon, Ricoh and AstraZeneca will release new technologies, applications and achievements, covering carbon neutralization, IoT, financial technology, medical care and health, network security, artificial intelligence, design of cultural and creative products, etc.
